Two nights ago, I was channel surfing and came across a documentary. This documentary is called GasLand, and it tells a story that isn't very inviting; which makes me wonder why people want to move here from around the world. We may not have children with guns walking the streets, but we do have corporate giants with the power to snuff out what we know as America. Soon enough, we won't have children at all if we allow these monsters to continue to ravage our lands and water supplies in search of CASH.
Now, I know that some would say that comparing those two things, children with guns and corporate America's power, is probably ludicrous. Without thought, or regard for any person, a child with a gun would probably shoot you without a single hesitation if that's all they knew from previous generations; as in some parts of the world we know of now. Take a second and think about corporate America. They are nothing more than greedy children fighting over the rights of land and money to secure the wealth for their family, at the cost of any one human or entire species of animal. Lobbyist put bills on hold for years so that they may make money, warn others of trading information, also known as insider trading, and gain more POWER.
Dick Cheney was the CEO of Halliburton, the second largest oil and gas producer in the world, right before he became our vice president. In 2005, Dick Cheney passed a piece of legislation exempting natural gas giants from disclosing the exact processes, chemicals and other things used to 'FRACK' our land up (Hydraulic Fracturing). The legislation has really only benefited Cheney, Halliburton and colleagues.
In some, if not most cases, the drinking water is affected in some way. Making most water sources near sites undrinkable. This scares even me as I love meat for instance, what about American Cattle, beef in other words. Your cows and your chickens, even the milk you drink and the eggs you cook. All these animals in the affected areas have one thing in common, they drink or live in the water supply of the nation, and this is LARGELY in the Midwest, even though the probably almost stretches the entire nation across. I do hope it makes you think when you eat something 'MADE IN AMERICA'. I love my country but is it not crazy to be worried about this situation? I am sorry to have to bash my own country but we deserve this, we had it coming after passing such INSANE legislation. Day after day, after day, more and more natural gas reserves are being tapped around the country for power using a procedure called hydraulic fracturing.
"The regulatory loophole for hydraulic fracturing puts public health at risk and isn't justified," Henry Waxman (D-CA), chairman of the House Energy and Commerce Committee, who is standing behind the newest piece of legislation pioneered by Rep. Diana DeGette (D-CO),
which aims to attach the bill to a larger piece of legislation with broad
support - possibly a bill on climate change or a new energy policy
measure - where it would be shielded from industry resistance and these INSANE LOBBYISTS. On the
Senate side, according to congressional staff close to the effort, Sen. Bob Casey (D-PA) has a companion bill ready to follow. that will actually control this insanity. "The current exemption
for the oil and gas industry means that we can't even get the
information necessary to evaluate the health threats from these
practices."
Do you see what I mean? A Senator can't even get the information he wants about the chemicals being INJECTED into his state. Everyone thinks they can sweep this under the rug, but it's becoming more and more evident that when America sweeps something under the rug, we pay dearly. Look at our economic situation, that should be enough right there to support these bills.
It is understandable to explore and destroy natural preserves to find more POWER, right? I learned about hydraulic fracturing years ago and thought that natural gas may have actually been a step in the right direction to solve all of these problems. The general public, including myself has no idea what actually goes on when the search for natural gas begins in a certain area. Using the hydraulic fracturing process involves injecting millions of gallons of water and
sand mixed with tens of thousands of gallons of chemicals deep into the ground. Some of which are carcinogens which can literally eat the flesh from your skin- . And in nearly every single case as much as a
third of those fluids are left to gravitate towards our ever-dwindling water supply once the gas is removed. Imagine what this water does to your insides if it can eat the scales from a fish. And why pay to remove it or even try to clean up, they might lose some of their HARD EARNED CASH. Yeah right. Hell, if I threw a piece of trash out the window of my car and a cop saw me, I'd be fined as much as $1000.00 dollars.
Do people actually believe these oil and gas giants aren't helping pollute? The answer is yes! Please people look at the link I provided below, one of which completely contradicting everything that I have said. I want you to look at the facts and determine for yourself. How much has big business helped you in the passed four years? I guess I think of us as a pot of beans, and they are the cooks. Whatever spices and nice things they would like to put in our pot, sure we'll drink it right up, because we are beans, right? If you let them continue to dumb your brain down to the size of a bean, which they did long ago, our earth is going to look something like that in Mad Max. Desolate. Dead. This makes me afraid to have children. Should America scare me into not having children? Call me an extremist or crazy, but facts are facts and this has to stop.

analyst at the American Petroleum Institute.
"So proceed with caution if you are going to proceed with regulating
this business because it could make a very significant difference in
delivering a fuel that is fundamental to economic health."
I would like him to tell that to our children when they have to order there water from overseas because the entire fresh water supply is polluted by way of hydraulic fracturing. These people care about one thing, money and power. Not the kind of power you get when you use a battery or gasoline either. We are talking about Capitalism, it is not real. It is something that we hoped would work but look what has happened. You give big business more money and they squander more money.They pollute more... they DESTROY America.
Coming to YOUR doorstep SOON, Shale Gas drilling using HYDRAULIC FRACTURING. They say the Appalachians are filled with pockets of natural gas. Can anyone tell me how far we, in Greenville, South Carolina are from this? Most water flows downward doesn't it? Well if you want water that catches fire, or water you can heat and make plastic with, then by all means, let them continue. I don't want to drink plastics and KILLER organic compounds, do you? How about air that makes you so sick that you develop disease, chronic pain and almost always, eventually cancer..? Everyone who lives near a natural gas drilling station, storing station and/or refining station, knows someone who has been affected by these chemicals, if not themselves. A review to Bill Mahr's book, "The NEW new Rules". As crazy as Bill sounds sometimes, his is NOT crazy and he does make sense. The 'ruling class' and the elite no longer demand or care for a greater or common good. Greed has replaced their want to help others, and by others, I mean us. Every day Americans, there will be no middle class soon, if there is such a thing now. We are in trouble and both major political parties know it. What will you do when you can't find a job coming out of college? Can't buy food for your family? One other thing to point out in this article is the comment made on the Halliberton, not a good example of business, but a wonderfully great example of how greedy the 'elite' have become.
